A very subjective look into AWFC

Merry Xmas everyone!!

OK so I have given a little more thought regarding who I would love to bring to AWFC over the winter break. My “research” has been extremely limited to checking soccerdonna and I might’ve googled “which players are available this winter.”

If Georgia Stanway was to come back to England, which I don’t think she should, I think that we should absolutely pull the trigger and do whatever we have to do to bring her to our club. I think she’s an absolutely amazing footballer, an experienced leader, she has bite and can shoot from anywhere PLUS is fantastic at set pieces. She’s a winner and a warrior, the latter quality being something we need, specially in the midfield.

Now, let me explain what I meant when I said that I don’t think she should go back to England. To be clear, this is not a criticism of that country, which I love. I fucking LOVE England and London and I cannot wait to be back. I’ve played some of the best shows of my life there and it’s just always very special. My point is that I encourage most people to leave their homes and live abroad and with footballers it’s no different. Specially when it comes to learn a new language.

Among the reasons why that could be a big deal, if learned properly, is that it might open up some doors as it relates to post retirement work. Say Merel Van Dongen for example… one of my all time favorite players who not only did amazing with the Oranjeleeuwinnen but also with Atletico Madrid and Monterrey. She went to Spain/Mexico and her Spanish is absolutely amazing. She could now work as an analyst in 3 languages maybe tripling her options for income? I don’t know how accurate that statement is but its 5:53am and it seems close enough.

Back to the football… I think we need an actual CDM other than KCC. This is NOT a dig at KCC and as a matter of fact I have always liked her and wish she got more minutes and glad she is doing that now, but happens if she gets hurt or we rotate? Even though Georgia is more box to box and Keira Walsh stays back, I think ability, attitude and attributes wise, I would like to see Georgia there. But what do I know?
