I, like most of you, are very excited about the incoming transfers of both Cerci and Stanway. The latter being the worst kept secret ever, pretty much while the former being something that I personally didn’t know much about until about a couple of weeks ago when the rumors caught momentum. I think and hope that both with be extraordinary additions to the squad.
What their signings do, however, is set an expectation (at least for me) that more transfers are coming and they will be of a high standard which is the least that we deserve as a fan base, it’s the least the club deserves as an institution and of course it’s the least fellow players deserve, specially if you gift away 2 of your historic players.
The World Cup just makes me miss the WSL a lot and I cannot bloody wait for September to be here and just get shocked by players playing for other clubs and that whole dynamic which is fantastic. It can’t come soon enough honestly.
I’m actually kinda bummed we didn’t sign Kaneryd. I know she doesn’t have that much end product but I like her fire and drive. I think she’s gonna be a massive player for Lyon.
Oh, before I go, there’s a very, very good new arsenal women podcast called Arsenal Trailblazers and I have been invited for a chat this week, not sure when the episode will air but I will let you know.
They reached out to me hours after my last blog, ironically about the need for more AWFC content to be out there and I have to say that I was very moved when the host told me I was a big inspiration for him to start his podcast. Always humbling.
