What I feared and wrote about so many times in the past few weeks has come to pass… Renee isn’t sure of what her best XI is and some players that are no longer as sharp as they once were simply cannot be setting the standards anymore. And I’m not gonna beat a dead horse about how we kept certain players and gave away others for FREE but fucking hell this is just insane.
I’m lying… I absolutely will, actually.
The negligence by the board and the overhauling of a club that was just needing a couple of players out, more than the incoming ones, is clear and painful and us fans are suffering but make no mistake, the players are not enjoying this and this isn’t their fault, even if they are the ones out on the pitch making the mistakes.
What I mean by this is that say Foord… if she isn’t good enough and doesn’t score, etc it’s not up to her to be selected over and over. This falls on the manager, on training, on communication and transfers among many other things, so yes she is at fault for running into defenders over and over and over and over again but if she isn’t good enough she must be subbed.
They went for players that were pleasing to the eye and the media and the club wants you to be loyal at all costs specially if you fall in love with the players. That’s what they’re trying to do, make no mistake.
I keep telling you all that the players we are missing and the players we had and absurdly moved on… Beth is killing it, they’re unbeaten and will win the league. Katie is playing as good as she’s ever played, Lia Walti is turning back the clock. Let me remind you all that these are STILL world class players and sometimes you don’t need to be the youngest or fastest but what you need to be is the smartest and we just are missing them.
Let me be clear, I’m not saying we don’t have smart players, not at all, but if geniuses are gone then geniuses are gone, it doesn’t make others less smart but let’s be honest, I rather play Beth at CB than not have her in the squad, but alas, she’s gone. I get it.
BTW she played as a 10 today and scored too. FFS
I do think there’s an adjustment period for any squad, of course, this is not an opinion but a tenant in football but today for instance we played against essentially a team that we should’ve beaten comfortably. We didn’t… so now what?
Well, in terms of the positives we didn’t concede! no major injuries either… and at least the backline seems to be pretty solid and that is a huuuuuge thing and a positive one, and if you know me you know why I think that is lol. Great to see Hinds out there as well and Chloe too.
Cerci needs more minutes and ideally she would’ve had some before the MASSIVE match vs Chelsea this Sunday.
But nobody knows what the fuck is going on do they?
Is it Casey Stoney time? Should we have resigned Renee?
Do we need a new voice?
